Gun Safety
Read, study and know these gun safety rules. This is the first step to gun ownership. YOU are responsible for gun safety. If you see someone breaking these rules, feel free to loudly and authoritatively let them know immediately.
- Always keep the gun pointed in a safe direction.
- Keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to fire.
- Know what is behind what you are about to shoot. Over-penetration of your target should be expected.
- Keep the gun unloaded or secured in a holster that covers the trigger until you are ready to fire.
- Keep the gun secured, out of sight and out of reach of any unauthorized users until you are ready to fire.
- Never clean or dry fire your gun with ammunition in the same room.
- Before cleaning, dry firing or presenting a gun, make sure that it is unloaded by looking into the magazine and/or chamber AND feeling (using your finger) to make sure it is unloaded. Don’t just trust a quick glance.
- Be familiar with the gun and its operation before touching it. Read the instruction manual first.
- Always wear eye and ear protection when firing a gun.
- Never use a firearm while under the influence of any drug or alcohol.
- Keep your firearms maintained and in safe operating condition.
